“Almost everyone in my family has been touched by cancer.”

In September 2014, Mercy employee Chris Christian embarked on an epic cycling journey across Europe. He rode more than 1,850 kilometres on the roads of France and Italy alone for 15 days, pushing the limits of both mind and body. He called his adventure Tour de Mercy. In 2016, he will push the limits again, taking on one of the world’s most difficult cyclosportive events, the Haute Route.

Chris has again taken up a cause. For every kilometre of ground he covers, Chris wants to raise awareness and support for Mercy Cancer Center in honor of loved ones who are battling cancer and in memory of those who have lost their battle.

Chris says, “Almost everyone in my family has been touched by cancer. I have wanted to give back my entire life but didn’t have the resources or the timing was wrong. Now is the time.”

A native of Cleveland and graduate of Crestwood High School in Mantua, Ohio, Chris resided in Naples, Sicily and Sardinia, Italy, for more than 12 years. He speaks fluent Italian and once a year visits his two grown children who still live in Italy. He currently lives in Plain Township with his wife Melinda and daughter Annamaria.
