India, the Middle East, Canada, Iowa, Ohio, and Pennsylvania— for Vidhi Adlakha, D.O., a fellowship-trained and board-eligible plastic surgeon with Mercy Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, each place has been an important point on the road to Canton, Ohio, and Mercy Medical Center.

Born in India, Dr. Adlakha spent her early years in the Middle East and then emigrated with her family to Canada, where she grew up and completed her undergraduate studies. She moved to the United States in 2006, finishing medical school at Des Moines University in 2010; a general surgery residency at Affinity Medical Center in Massillon in 2015; and a plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Penn., earlier this year.

Discovering Her Gifts As Both Plastic & Cosmetic Surgeon

Throughout her training at Affinity, Dr. Adlakha gravitated toward surgeries requiring fine motor skills, discovering she enjoyed the reconstructive aspect of them. She says, “I realized how closely people’s self-esteem is connected with appearance. After breast cancer surgery or after a trauma that leads to deformity, patients feel self-conscious, and plastic surgery can help give them a positive self-image again.”

Her fellowship in Philadelphia exposed her to cosmetic surgery, breast reconstruction, craniofacial surgery (cleft lip and palate), hand surgery, burns, reconstruction of lower extremities after trauma, head and neck reconstruction after cancer, and more.

She brings this well-rounded knowledge and training to her true passion, cosmetic surgery, which can be performed on all areas of the head, neck, and body with the goal of improving aesthetic appeal, symmetry, and proportion.

“As a cosmetic surgeon, I focus not only medical science, but also on art in many ways,” Dr. Adlakha says. “By bringing art and science together, I aim to provide carefully selected procedures to meet my patients’ goals and obtain natural, beautiful, and realistic results.”

Dr. Adlakha’s cosmetic interests include injectables (botox, fillers); surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation; skin care (peels, micro-needling, PRP treatments, laser treatments); cosmetic breast procedures; and total body contouring.
