This procedure is performed without the need for a heart-lung machine, minimally invasively through small incisions made between the ribs. This avoids the need for a sternotomy, its associated risks and complications. (A sternotomy is a procedure where doctors make an 8- to 10-inch incision down the chest, cut through the breastbone and spread the ribs to access the patient’s heart.)

The hybrid offers the best of both procedures, minimizing trauma and speeding recovery and healing for our eligible patients.
