North Canton, Ohio: Mercy Health & Fitness Center is offering Yoga classes for runners, golfers and general fitness at Mercy Health Center of North Canton. Mark Jones, certified 200-hour level Brahmrishi Yoga instructor, will teach each six-class series. Cost for a six-week series is $54, and pre-registration and pre-payment are required. For more information or to register, call Mercy Health & Fitness Center at 330-966-8997.
Yoga for Runners
Can running leave you tight and sore with compressed joints? “You bet it can,” Jones says. “Runners are already strong, toned and in great cardiovascular shape. Yoga for Runners is designed to help lengthen and soothe muscles while decompressing your neck, spine, hips, knees, ankles, arches and toes,” he says. Yoga for Runners will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Mondays, Sept. 17 – Oct. 22.
Yoga for Golfers
Do you have tight hips, a sore back or unsteady concentration? “As golfers, your back and hips are stressed through a wide range of swings, most notably the first one – the drive,” Jones says. “Yoga for Golfers helps restore length in your back and space in your spine,” he says. Improve your game by learning how to balance effort with ease. Yoga for Golfers will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays, Sept. 20 – Oct. 25.
Yoga for You
No previous Yoga experience? No flexibility? No balance? No worry! “Yoga restores space to the joints and length to the muscles plus develops calm and vitality by pairing mind with breath,” Jones says. “You do not have to be a dancer or a circus contortionist to do this,” he says. “Props and modifications make the poses most meaningful for you. No need to perform the poses picture-perfect to gain benefits.” Yoga for You will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, Sept. 18 – Oct. 23.
