Uniontown, Ohio: Mark J. Hudak, M.D., medical director of Mercy Sports Medicine, is now taking appointments at Mercy Health Center of Lake, located at 11932 King Church Ave., N.W., in Uniontown. With office hours also available at Mercy Health Center of Plain, Hudak specializes in injury prevention, the diagnosis and treatment of sport-related and orthopedic injuries, concussion management and educating athletic training and medical students. Hudak also offers sport physicals.
Mercy Sports Medicine has a contract with Lake Local Schools to offer athletic training services. Under Hudak’s direction, Mercy Sports Medicine became the first hospital in Stark County to offer ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing), a sophisticated, research-based concussion management program to help health care professionals evaluate an athlete’s recovery following a concussion. Lake High School athletes began taking the pre-concussion baseline testing last summer.
A native of Canton, Hudak graduated with a bachelor of science from Bowling Green State University and received his medical degree from Wright State University School of Medicine. He completed his primary care sports medicine fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation where he worked with the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Ballet and Cleveland State University organizations.
Hudak currently serves as team physician for Malone University. He is board certified in family practice with a certificate of added qualifications in Primary Care Sports Medicine. Hudak is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and American Academy of Family Practice.
