Canton, Ohio: Seventy-five percent of runners are injured each year. Most of these injures are caused by overuse and training errors. Mercy Sports Medicine is hosting a free Optimal Performance Series to show you how to avoid or effectively manage common running issues through proper training, injury management and nutrition techniques. Educational programs are offered from 6 to 7 p.m. every Tuesday, March 6 – April 24 at Mercy Health Center of North Canton.
Mercy Sports Medicine professionals will discuss topics such as running mechanics and orthotics; core strength; proper hydration; eating before, during and after the run; kineseotaping; deep tissue massage; establishing an effective workout plan; and functional movement screening. To register, call Mercy Sports Medicine at 330-966-8920. Participants who attend at least four sessions will have their names entered into a raffle for a $75 gift certificate from Second Sole.
