Mercy Service League’s 2017 Harvest Ball Raises Funds to Benefit Mercy’s Safe Caring Initiative

Mercy Service League held its 2017 Harvest Ball on Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Canton Memorial Civic Center Auditorium. Mercy Medical Staff president, Ronald Crock, M.D., and Stark County sheriff, George Maier, served as honorary Harvest Ball chairs and Barbara Frustaci and Kathleen Prasnal served as Mercy Service League event co-chairs. The event raised over $240,000, withproceeds benefitting Mercy’s Safe Caring initiative – AvaSure TeleSitter, a video monitoring system for at-risk patients.


Themed “Feast & Fantasy,” this year’s Harvest Ball was an evening reminiscent of whimsical adventures in Rio, filled with fine dining, dancing, fun and elegance.  The Harvest Ball, Mercy Service League’s signature fund raising event, attracted approximately 400 guests this year.


“The Harvest Ball celebrates the continuing mission of Mercy Medical Center by supporting important patient care initiatives within the hospital,” said Paul Hiltz, FACHE, interim chief executive officer at Mercy Medical Center. “We are grateful to everyone for their support of this event as Mercy continues to make patient safety a number one priority with the AvaSure Telesitter system.” 


Altercare of Ohio, Inc. served as the presenting sponsor for the 2017 Harvest Ball. Other major sponsors included Mercy Medical Center Medical Staff, The Repository and About Magazine.  Many other businesses, organizations and individuals were also sponsors, donors, advertisers and underwriters of Harvest Ball 2017.


Save the date for the 2018 Harvest Ball which has been scheduled for Saturday, October 20 with an exciting new theme, “Amore Amalfi”!


Mercy Service League will also hold its Souper Bowl fundraiser on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at McKinley Aerie #2370, F.O.E.
