At its annual membership banquet on May 17 held at Bender’s Tavern in Canton, Mercy Service League presented Mercy with proceeds from the 2015 Harvest Ball, which totaled $205,000. Last year’s Harvest Ball benefitted Mercy’s Facility Transformation Project to renovate the fifth floor orthopedic/observation unit.
“A large crowd of members came together to celebrate the ‘fruits of their labors’ after a busy year of activities,” says Elaine Campbell, director of Mercy Development Foundation. “Mercy Service League has been one of the hospital’s greatest donors in time, talent and treasure. We salute the work they do to continue the mission of Mercy Medical Center,” Campbell says.
Mercy Service League also installed officers for the 2016-2017 fundraising year including Anna Mavrakis, president, Julie Gill, vice president, Cindy Ertle, treasurer, Erin Shea, assistant treasurer, Wendy Lichtenwalter, recording secretary, and Daphne Thomson, corresponding secretary.
Other business covered at the meeting included a video introducing Wine, Women and Shoes, a new Mercy Service League fundraiser planned for 2017.
“We deeply appreciate all that the Mercy Service League does to help us continue the hospital’s mission,” says Thomas E. Cecconi, president and CEO at Mercy Medical Center. “Each year, they diligently strive to help us take Mercy facilities and services to new heights, helping our patients, families and the greater community.”
The 2016 Harvest Ball, themed Black and White, will be held Saturday, Oct. 15 at Canton Memorial Civic Center. All proceeds will benefit Mercy’s Facility Transformation Project. Mercy Service League’s next celebrity fundraising party at 91 Wood Fired Oven in Jackson Township will be held Monday, Aug. 15.
