Canton, Ohio: The Health Foundation of Greater Massillon has awarded a grant to Mercy Medical Center for use in its pediatric therapy program at the Jackson Health Center.
The $14,100 grant was used to purchase much needed pediatric equipment, including a pediatric lite-gait treadmill, for treating children with developmental disabilities. Currently, Mercy is the only provider of pediatric therapy in Western Stark County.
“This equipment will be invaluable to our multidisciplinary approach,” says Thomas E. Cecconi, president and CEO of Mercy. “It will help many children in the Massillon and Jackson Township areas achieve greater independence and confidence.”
The foundation’s Executive Director John McGrath, as well as several of his board members, toured the therapy department at Mercy Health Center of Jackson to view the new equipment and see it in use.
Mercy offers a broad range of pediatric physical, occupational and speech therapy for children from birth to 18 years of age. Certified, experienced therapists work with children who have autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, developmental delays, closed head injuries, voice disorders, behavioral disorders and many other conditions.
