New Philadelphia, Ohio: Mercy Medical Center in partnership with Tuscarawas County Public Library is offering a Heart Health Fair on Tuesday, February 15th inside the library’s New Philadelphia branch located at 121 Fair Ave NW, from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. This health fair will offer FREE blood pressure and pulmonary function screenings, and will also offer low-cost glucose ($2), total cholesterol ($2), and full lipid profiles ($8) with a 12-hour fast recommended for more accurate results. Many Mercy Medical Center departments will be on hand with educational materials and interactive displays, including Respiratory Therapy, Diabetes Education, Heart Catheterization Lab, Cardiac Diagnostics Lab, Nutritional Services, Smoking Cessation and more.
After the Heart Health Fair, Mercy will present, “New Frontiers in Heart Care” at 6:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 201 West High Ave. in New Philadelphia. This program will feature Ahmed Sabe, M.D., Harvard trained interventional cardiologist and medical director of Mercy’s Heart Center, Aqeel Sandhu, M.D., Harvard and Cleveland Clinic trained cardiovascular surgeon, medical director of Mercy’s Cardiothoracic Surgery Program, and Amjad Iqbal, M.D., Mayo Clinic trained Cardiologist, Medical Director of Mercy’s Satellite Cardiovascular Imaging Program. This FREE educational program will cover coronary artery disease, acute intervention and new treatment options such as robotic assisted surgery.
