Canton, Ohio: Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) affects about 8 million American men and women over the age of 40. Usually caused by atherosclerosis, PAD narrows arteries in the legs, limiting blood flow to the muscles. Join Mercy for FREE PAD Screenings at the following dates and locations – these screenings will evaluate blood flow to the legs as well as your risk for PAD:
Friday, October 8 – Mercy Health Center of Tuscarawas County
1031 West High Ave., New Philadelphia
Friday, October 22 – Mercy Health Center of Carroll County
125 Canton Rd., Carrollton
PAD can result in leg pain and ulcers, as well as increasing your risk of stroke and heart attack. The risks can be greatly reduced through knowledge and understanding of the risk factors as well as recognition of the disease. All PAD screenings are held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Registration is encouraged – call 330-489-1333 or 1-800-223-8662 to reserve your spot. Walk-ins are welcome, however, appointments will take precedence.
