Mercy Medical Center Volunteer Openings Fall 2011

Canton, Ohio: Mercy Medical Center is currently seeking volunteers to serve at the medical center’s information desks, patient transport, gift shop, boutique, patient flower delivery and mail room departments. Training will be provided for all positions.

Information desk volunteers need to have computer knowledge, good telephone etiquette and good customer service skills. Positions are available during different shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Patient wheelchair transporters will learn their way around the hospital and transport patients throughout the medical center. Current openings are noon to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Mercy Boutique volunteers assist customers with merchandise and ring sales. Applicants must have strong customer service skills. Current openings are 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. or 1 – 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Mercy Gift Shop volunteers assist customers and ring sales. Applicants must have strong customer service skills. Current openings are 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Thursdays and 2 – 5 p.m. every other Saturday.

Volunteers are also needed to deliver flowers to patient rooms. Position requires a considerable amount of walking. Current openings are noon to 3 p.m. every other Wednesday. 

Mercy Mail Room is seeking a volunteer available from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays and Thursdays to deliver mail to all hospital departments. Position requires a considerable amount of walking.

Patient newspaper and mail delivery volunteers are needed to deliver patient cards and newspapers to patient rooms and lobby areas. Current openings are 8 – 11 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Position requires a considerable amount of walking.

Over 580 active volunteers provide valuable services to Mercy Medical Center’s patients, visitors and staff at the hospital’s main campus and satellite locations. Volunteer applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and additional help is always needed.
