Do you think you might have a hernia of the abdomen, groin or chest/hiatus? Common symptoms for abdominal and groin hernias include nausea, groin or abdominal pain, and a bulge in the lower abdomen. Symptoms of a chest/hiatal hernia might also include chest pain, heartburn, acid reflux and shortness of breath. Join Mercy Medical Center on Saturday, Oct. 20, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., for a FREE hernia-screening and educational program hosted by Mercy Robotic Surgery Center. During the event, participants will have the opportunity to meet individually with a surgeon for a hernia exam and learn more about minimally invasive robotic surgery used to correct the medical problem.
The hernia screenings will be performed by Mercy robotic-trained general surgeons, Leslie Pristas, D.O.; Russell L. Ramey, M.D.; Mazin Shackour, M.D. and Kirby L. Sweitzer, M.D., and will be held at Mercy Health Center of Jackson, 2ndfloor community room, located at 7337 Caritas Circle N.W., Massillon, next to the Paul and Carol David YMCA. Robotic surgery allows patients to have a shorter hospital stay, less pain/discomfort, faster recovery and reduced blood loss. Mercy Robotic Surgery Center is home to Ohio’s first da VinciâXäSurgical Robot, the most advanced robot of its kind.
