Canton, Ohio: Mercy Medical Center announced that David K. Stewart has been appointed senior vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) effective March 1.

Cecconi, president and CEO at Mercy Medical Center. “With 23 years of financial management and leadership experience at Sisters of Charity Health System (SCHS) hospitals, David has proven he understands the importance of continuing our mission through strong fiscal leadership.”
After graduating in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Adminstration from Miami University in Ohio, Stewart served as a financial analyst at Mercy Medical Center. In 1997, Stewart became a senior financial analyst for Columbia–HCA, Ohio Division in Cleveland. Stewart has also since served as vice president of finance and CFO for St. Vincent Charity Medical Center in Cleveland and St. John Medical Center in Westlake, Ohio, and most recently, senior vice president and CFO for Providence Hospitals in Columbia, South Carolina.
In 2008, Stewart completed his Masters of Business Administration and Accountancy at University of Phoenix. He served on the CFO advisory panel of the South Carolina Hospital Association, was a member of the 2011 class of Leadership Columbia, and served on the board of directors, finance committee, marketing committee and supervisory and audit committee of the Ohio Educational Credit Union – the second largest credit union of Ohio. Stewart is a member of Healthcare Financial Management Association and the American College of Healthcare Executives. He has also been active as a volunteer in the community in Junior Achievement and coaching basketball.
Mercy Medical Center, a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System, operates a 476-bed hospital serving Stark, Carroll, Wayne, Holmes and Tuscarawas Counties and parts of Southeastern Ohio.
