Mercy Heart Center will hold a FREE Heart Healthy Cooking Demonstration on Tuesday, February 13 in Mercy Hall Auditorium, 1320 Mercy Drive NW, Canton, located behind the hospital’s main parking deck. Beginning at 12 noon, this program will teach participants how to make healthier versions of several food and dessert items.
Open to the community, this popular annual event will feature a live cooking demonstration by Mercy’s executive chef, Nikki Mosiychuck, and a heart health presentation by Kate Anderson, RDN, LD, outpatient dietitian for Mercy Medical Center. Themed around the 1950s and 1960s, Anderson’s presentation, The Fat Pack, will discuss the different types of fats and what they do for our health. Several original Rat Pack song titles will be referenced to help participants remember which fats to take “Nice N’ Easy” and which fats they should incorporate into their diets more often. Attendees will receive a free special item as well as a free bottle of Olive Your Heart olive oil. Recipes and taste testing will be included.
Reservations are requested by February 9th as seating is limited. Please call Mercy Healthcare Connection at 330-489-1333 or 1-800-223-8662 to RSVP for this FREE program.
