Author Jenny McCray will be at Mercy Boutique from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30 to sign copies of her children’s book “HATventures of Hope,” an inspsiring story told through the eyes of a child as he faces his mother’s cancer diagnosis. When his mother loses her hair during treatment, the boy takes on the important task of choosing a hat for her to wear each day. The hats take them on adventures as they get lost in their imaginations and live each day to the fullest.
McCray says her eyes were opened to the world of cancer more than ever before when her dear friend, Lindsay, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 28. Moved by her journey, McCray wrote this children’s book capturing the love between a mother and a child through a cancer diagnosis, and McCray’s sister, Jessica Donehue, created the illustrations. A portion of the net profits from every book sold are donated to The Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research. For more information, visit www.hatventuresofhope.com.
