Canton, Ohio: Mercy Vascular Center is sponsoring a free community education program titled “Venous Disease and DVT” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at Mercy Hall Auditorium. Mercy vascular surgeon Jeffrey Prem, M.D., will discuss risk factors and the importance of detection and early treatment.

In collaboration with the American Venous Forum, Mercy Vascular Center will also hold a free screening event for DVT and other venous diseases from 2 to 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30 at Mercy Hall Auditorium. This non-invasive screening involves a short demographic questionnaire and an assessment of DVT risk factors. Participants will be given a copy of the screening results for review with their primary care provider.

Venous disease can cause varicose veins, chronic leg swelling, and leg ulcers. Blood clots in the veins kill more than 100,000 Americans each year. Unfortunately, most Americans are unaware of the importance of healthy veins. Few people know that venous health can be evaluated quickly and easily with simple testing.
