The Mercy Family and Our Hospital Mission: Reflections at Christmas

The Mercy Family and Our Hospital Mission: Reflections at Christmas

Posted on: December 21, 2016

During the Christmas season, family becomes especially important. Whether loved ones are close by, far away, or fondly remembered this year, it’s a good time to reflect on all that family may mean to us.

Merry Christmas from Mercy Medical Center in Canton Ohio in 2016

For me, Mercy employees and staff members are like part of my family, and I have heard many of our employees say the same thing. The relationships we forge with one another — and oftentimes patients and their loved ones  transcend the business of health care. We share equally in joy, laughter, and sorrow as part of belonging to the Mercy Family.

I am thankful for the privilege of caring for the greater Stark County community, and I appreciate all that our physicians, nurses, therapists, technicians, housekeepers and so many others do for our patients and one another. My hope is that we may shine with the Spirit of Mercy during the holidays and throughout the New Year. That spirit is a calling passed on to us by our founders who devoted themselves to Christ’s healing ministry more than 100 years ago. In 2017, we again dedicate ourselves to the hospital’s mission of quality, compassionate, accessible, and affordable care for all who come to us.

I also wish the people of Stark County and beyond a blessed Christmas and a New Year filled with good health. None of us know exactly what 2017 will bring, but I do know the Mercy Family will be here to care for and to serve the people of our community.
