As part of our Mission Outreach efforts in northeast Canton, Mercy recently held education programs at Mercy at St. Paul Square and Imagine School.
Mercy Dental Services presented their popular dental health assembly to Imagine School last month, showing 145 students in grades k-4 how to properly care for their teeth. Jamie Darr, DDS, and Anthony Johnson, DDS led the assembly.
Students volunteered to demonstrate proper flossing and brushing techniques using a dental mouth model and extra-large toothbrush. Students listened to a book and a poem on dental care and had the opportunity to ask questions. They were also provided with goody bags containing toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, an activity book, an apple and educational handouts to take home with them.
At Mercy at St. Paul Square, Dr. Ragheb, MD, initiated an education session on diabetes for northeast Canton residents with diabetes and for those who are at risk. The gathering, which was very interactive, included a healthy lunch, diabetes information and a Q&A with Dr. Ragheb and Margie Koenig, diabetes educator at Mercy. Those in attendance were entered into a drawing for glucometers/supplies and a basket of wellness supplies.
