Mercy Medical Center employees are part of a medical mission team visiting the Dominican Republic this week. Here’s a note from one of the team members:
Everyone is in very good spirits being in this beautiful country and serving the needs of the wonderful people. Surgery, a clinic and the pharmacy were all set up over the weekend and work began early Monday morning. It was a busy day. Surgery did 16 plastic and gynecological procedures, and the clinic saw 166 patients.
Cases included the removal of an ovarian cyst the size of a soccer ball and trying to help a young man with a severe machete cut. Repair of a baby's cleft palette is underway as I send this. Patients with hypertension, scabies, parasites and infections, to just name a few, are being diagnosed and given medication in the clinic.
The team appreciates everyone's support, donations and prayers!
