Emily Leak, Tayor Leak and Naziriyah Bradley, sixth-grade students at The College and Career Readiness Academy at Lehman Middle School, presented a check of $175 to Mercy Breast Care Center – the proceeds from their “Cancer Sucks” lollipop fundraiser held at the end of October. Karen Coughlin and Diane Wofsey visited the school to officially thank the girls for their efforts and present Mercy gift bags.
The girls developed the concept because they know individuals with cancer and wanted to help. When asked why they chose Mercy as the recipient, they simply said, "Because Mercy is our hospital." Mercy Cancer Center is very grateful for their donation and their money will be utilized in the care of cancer patients.
