…the first plot of land having been recorded in 1806. Many of Canton’s homes, churches and other structures re included on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Proudly, Canton is home to the William McKinley Presidential Library and Museum, National First Ladies Historic Site, Education & Research Center, Pro Football Hall of Fame, Canton Classic Car Museum and Amateur Sports Hall of Fame. Canton has a broad and gifted arts community and excellent educational facilities.

Canton is the county seat of Stark County. The City’s location in Stark County is approximately 58 miles southeast of Cleveland, 20 miles south of Akron and 94 miles west of Pittsburgh, Pa.

The abundance of shopping, restaurants and recreation opportunities in the Canton/Stark County area offer big-city amenities, with beautiful, rolling countryside just minutes outside of the city.

As the birthplace of professional football, Canton is a sports-oriented community and a participant in the McKinley-Massillon football rivalry, the oldest high school football rivalry in the United States. Canton/Stark County is referred to as Ohio’s Golf Capital, with a variety of public and pri-vate golf courses. The Canton Parks Department maintains 60 parks, which total nearly 800 acres of public parkland.

Mercy Medical Center is the 4th largest employer in Stark County.
