“Volunteering has allowed me to use my skills and experience to do meaningful work and give back to the community that gave so much to me." ~ Mary Hatchett

Meet Mary Hatchett, a Mercy volunteer for the past seven years with 3,300 hours of service. A retired principal, Mary helps at our Main Lobby Information Desk twice a week and in Mercy Pastoral Care on occasion. She also helps train new volunteers.

"I appreciate the opportunity to assist people in different ways, whether I provide a listening ear, a conversation, or directions throughout the hospital," says Mary. "I believe volunteering gives life value and helps people grow. As a retired principal, I enjoy reconnecting with former students who stop at the desk and tell me their stories. I also enjoy the camaraderie with my partners Tina and Bev and the occasional hug from Sister Mary Lois.”
