Language Like a Lifeline: Emergency Situation Inspires Bilingual Employee to Pursue Nursing Career

For Alex Camacho, who emigrated to the United States with his family when he was just 11, learning English was a challenge. Years later, this bilingual Mercy employee had a career-changing experience in the emergency department after interpreting for a young Latino patient in a difficult situation. In becoming a lifeline for her, Alex discovered a new direction for himself.

Mercy Peer Visitors Help Guide New Stroke Survivors

Mercy Peer Visitors giving hope and encouragement to stroke patients at the hospital. The program was created by Mercy therapists who felt new stroke patients would find encouragement from others who already experienced the journey through stroke recovery.

Open Arms and Hearts: Greek Woman, Family Find Home in Canton & at Mercy

Once a lonely young immigrant from Greece, Lily Janidas has lived in Follansbee, W. Va., Marion, Ind., and Steubenville, Ohio. For many years now, she has called Stark County home, and she and her oldest son consider Mercy to be family.

Tree of Thanks Grows as People Express Their Gratitude

Mercy employees Sara Sultan and Taylor Isla created a Tree of Thanks in Mercy's main lobby, inviting people to anonymously share things they are thankful for. According to Cindy Mayle, manager of admitting, the response has been overwhelming and from the heart.
