Mercy Medical Center's Pet Patrol

Michelle Hammer and her Collie Lucky have volunteered with Mercy Medical Center’s Pet Patrol program since January 2009

One late November day, Michelle received a call that a patient on the ninth floor requested a visit. When she entered the patient’s room, she recognized a woman she had previously visited at the hospital on another floor.

MIMO Helps Woman with Growing Tumor

For 23 years, a Honduras woman named Carmen suffered from a growing mandible tumor called an Ameloblastoma. The benign tumor had grown to the size of a melon affecting her ability to eat, speak, smile or work for many years.

For more than 160 years, the words In Omnibus Caritas–in all things charity–have inspired the work of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine. It was for this purpose that they opened the doors of Mercy Hospital in 1908 to care for the people of Canton and surrounding communities.
