Mercy Offers Suicide Risk Assessment Workshop
Program to Feature Dr. Phillip Resnick, a Nationally Recognized Authority on Forensic Psychiatry

 

Canton, Ohio: In recognition of National Suicide Prevention Week (Sept. 7 – 13), Mercy Medical Center Behavioral Health will sponsor a two-hour suicide risk assessment workshop for professionals and community members on Wed., Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Mercy Hall Auditorium.

Dr. Philip ResnickThe program will feature Phillip J. Resnick, M.D., professor of psychiatry and director of forensic psychiatry at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in Cleveland. Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) for professionals are available.

Dr. Resnick is a national authority in forensic psychiatry and has served as a consultant in many high-profile cases, including Jeffrey Dahmer, Susan Smith, Timothy McVeigh, Andrea Yates and Theodore Kaczynski (the Unabomber). He has served as president of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law and has published more than 130 articles.

Mercy Behavioral Health will also hold a community open house on September 10 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Mercy Medical Office Building Auditorium. The open house will include representatives and informational booths from area mental health agencies.
