Mercy Orthopedic Center
Coordinated healthcare teams in a state-of-the-art facility
In our Orthopaedic Center of Excellence, all facilities and healthcare teams are designed to provide patients with the best possible care. Every patient is assessed and cared for by a multi-disciplinary team that provides coordinated care, from education through surgery and rehabilitation. They know how important it is to keep lines of communication open, talking frequently to family and friends and following-up after surgery.
Surgery is performed in our new surgery/ambulatory care facility that includes 14 state-of-the-art operating rooms. For your convenience, all post-operative orthopaedic services are fully integrated on one patient-care floor.
The Center of Excellence where quality comes first
We are proud to provide outstanding quality of care in the areas that matter most to our patients-the quality and experience of our medical staff, and the positive outcomes of procedures they perform.
Consider the credentials of our surgeons. Seventeen of the surgeons on our active staff have achieved board certification by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). Being board certified is a benchmark for quality, because it is the highest level of professional achievement a physician can attain.
Not only have our surgeons achieved certification, they have the benefit of wide-ranging experience that is so important to the overall excellence of an orthopaedic center. At Mercy's Orthopaedic Center of Excellence, physicians have been performing total joint replacements since 1971, recently performing over 500 in one year! That experience means outstanding care for our patients every day.
At Mercy's Orthopaedic Center of Excellence, quality also is reflected in our low orthopaedic infection rate, our patients' short length of stay in the hospital and very low rates of complications compared to national averages. These statistics are important to us for one reason: They stand for patients. And we're determined to give our patients the very best chance for a recovery free from complications.
Expert post-surgical care
After surgery, our expert staff is trained to support and care for total joint replacement patients with:
- physical therapy to help you increase your strength, comfort and range of motion;
- occupational therapy to help you regain mobility for independent living;
- rehabilitation services to help get you back on your feet. When the time comes to return home from the hospital, social workers/case managers help with your discharge needs. This holistic approach to treatment is a result of our mission at Mercy: to continue Christ's healing ministry by providing quality, compassionate care for the whole person.
Full range of services
In addition to total joint replacement and spine surgery, Mercy's Orthopaedic Center of Excellence also offers:
- orthopaedic care after trauma; emergency treatment of orthopaedic injuries;
- treatment of sports injuries;
- orthopaedic sub-specialties for the care and treatment of hand, foot and spine;
