Developed in 1974 to treat obesity in a healthy and effective way, OPTIFAST is a weight-management program that combines lifestyle education and medical monitoring with a meal replacement plan. Under the medical direction of L. Bruce Hensley, D.O., participants will receive a baseline screening and medical evaluation, weekly weigh-ins and educational group meetings, membership to Mercy Health & Fitness Center, and a calorie-controlled meal replacement plan.

An estimated 30 percent of U.S. adults–over 60 million people–are considered obese. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, over 300,000 deaths each year are associated with obesity.

During the program, patients develop the skills needed to maintain long-term weight loss. Studies show that after two years 50 percent of patients maintained more than half their weight loss, and 75 percent maintained medically significant weight loss. For more information, visit OPTIFAST.com.
