Mercy Offers Free Depression Screenings

Topic: Not Available | Contact: Cindy Hickey

Canton, Ohio: Could you or someone you love be suffering from depression? Mercy Medical Center is offering free depression screenings from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8 at the hospital, located at 1320 Mercy Drive in Canton. Appointments are required.

National Depression Screening Day began 18 years ago as a nationwide effort to screen individuals for the most common mental health disorders: depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.

“People suffering from depression and other disorders often do not recognize it themselves,” says Suresh A. Patel, M.D., medical director of Behavioral Sciences at Mercy Medical Center. “Typically it’s loved ones who first notice the warning signs.”

For more information or to make an appointment, call Mercy’s Healthcare Connection at 330-489-1333 or 800-223-8662.
