At just two minutes after midnight on New Year’s Day, Mercy Medical Center welcomed the first baby born in 2014. Not only was Mosiya Mykhale McElroy the first New Year’s baby of Stark County, but, according to Fox 8 News in Cleveland, he was the first baby born in Northeast Ohio.
Weighing a healthy 7 lbs., 10 oz., and measuring 20 ½ inches long, little Mosiya (pronounced Messiah) is the first-born child to Marshell McElroy of Canton (formerly of Alliance). Mercy presented Mosiya with a baby basket from Mercy Gift Shop, in honor of his timely arrival on New Year’s Day.
