Mercy Holds Free Community Talk on New Low-dose CT Lung Screening
Canton, Ohio: Mercy Medical Center will hold a free community talk on the new, low-dose CT (LDCT) lung screening on Thursday, September 26, in the Mercy Hall Auditorium beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The LDCT lung screening is the latest weapon in the war against lung cancer, which is the leading cause of cancer death for both men and women worldwide. With nearly 160,000 Americans dying of lung cancer each year, early detection can save lives.
Through May 2014, Mercy is offering LDCT lung screenings for only $50 to individuals who meet established high-risk criteria for lung cancer. This program is ideal for those who would like to learn more about the LDCT lung screening and find out of they or someone they love would qualify for the test.
Featured speakers are Vishal Sawhney, MD, pulmonologist, and Bobbi Freeman, RN, lung nurse navigator. Check in and free refreshments begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the presentation and Q&A session at 6 p.m.
