Mercy Heart Center Presents Free Luncheon Program on African American Women & Heart Disease

Topic: This “Sisters In Red” program will take place on Saturday, February 8th at Meyer’s Lake Ballroom. | Contact: Cindy Hickey

Cardiovascular disease kills nearly 500,000 African American women each year. Furthermore, only half of African American women are aware of the signs and symptoms of a heart attack. Join us on February 8th to learn how to change these statistics! Mercy Heart Center will be offering a FREE luncheon and presentation entitled, Sisters In Red: African American Women & Heart Disease, on Saturday, February 8th beginning at 11:00 am.

This informative community event will be held at Meyer’s Lake Ballroom, 3218 Parkway St. NW in Canton, and will include a sit-down lunch and presentations by Rabia Arshad, M.D., and Simonette Jones, M.D. Both physicians are female non-invasive cardiologists with Mercy Cardiovascular Institute. Ron Ponder, local radio personality for News-Talk 1480 WHBC, will emcee this Sisters In Red event.

This program is FREE and OPEN to the public, however, reservations are requested. Please call 330-489-1333 or 1-800-223-8662 for more information, or to RSVP.

This program is being offered by Mercy Heart Center as part of its local partnership with the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women initiative. Through this partnership, Mercy Heart Center will be offering many educational programs and events to the community during February (American Heart Month) and throughout 2014.
