Lose Weight With Mercy's "Weight to Go" Program
Canton, Ohio: Mercy Weight Management offers Weight to Go, a supervised, weight-control program focusing on food and behavioral changes to promote weight loss. Weekly classes will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursdays from May 6–July 15 at Mercy Health Center of North Canton, located at 6200 Whipple Ave., N.W.
“Weight to Go is designed for adults interested in losing weight who may not be eligible or are uncertain about utilizing a liquid weight-loss plan,” says Julie Finney, MS, registered dietitian and clinical nutrition manager at Mercy Medical Center. The program includes customized, individual meal plans, weekly learning opportunities and coaching. The cost for the program is $140 per person. Individual appointments with a dietitian are available for an additional fee.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that nearly a third of adults are obese—nearly double the number from two decades ago—and that about 300,000 deaths can be attributed to obesity annually. Obesity puts people at risk for several types of cancer, heart disease and diabetes.
The good news is that smart lifestyle choices—such as a healthy diet and regular exercise—can curtail obesity-related diseases and conditions. Shedding just 5 percent of your weight may be an achievable first goal. If you weigh 200 pounds, that’s only 10 pounds. To start, revamp your diet to include mainly fruits, vegetables and whole grains instead of processed foods or those that contain saturated fats, salt and sugar.
