Congratulations to Canton resident, Janay Johnson, food & nutrition services, for being named Mercy Medical Center’s Star Performer employee for March 2014. The Star Performer program is the hospital’s employee recognition and rewards program. Hospital employees, volunteers and staff are nominated each month for demonstrating outstanding performance, being a team player, going “above and beyond”, being creative and innovative and championing service excellence.

Johnson was nominated for going far beyond the scope of her job duties to help a patient’s family member in need. Her keen awareness and quick action led to immediate medical attention for a hospital visitor who was in dire medical distress. Johnson’s actions most likely saved this visitor’s life. She has been an employee at Mercy since 2005 and was presented with her award by Thomas E. Cecconi, President & CEO, at Mercy Medical Center.
