Lehman Middle School Students Sell Lollipops for 'Cancer Sucks' Fundraiser

Lehman Middle School Cancer Sucks Fundaiser 2014 | Mercy Cancer Center Canton OhioEmily Leak, Tayor Leak and Naziriyah Bradley, sixth-grade students at The College and Career Readiness Academy at Lehman Middle School, presented a check of $175 to Mercy Breast Care Center – the proceeds from their “Cancer Sucks” lollipop fundraiser held at the end of October.

Mercy Encourages Good Dental Hygiene for Allen School Students

Dental Assembly Canton Ohio with Mercy Dental Services, 2014Mercy Mission Outreach again held a dental assembly earlier this week for Canton City School's Allen Elementary School in southeast Canton. Students learned about proper dental care and received a special gift bag of dental care products.

Mercy Joins StarkFresh in JRC Childrens’ Garden and Urban Farm

As part of our outreach efforts in northeast Canton, we continue to partner with organizations in that area on various projects. All summer long, we participated in the StarkFresh Corridor Farmers Market that is held directly across the street from St. Paul Square. Recently, Sr. Carolyn Capuano, HM, vice president of mission and ministry at Mercy, attended a ceremony held at JRC for the launch of their Children’s Garden. This garden is located on the campus of the JRC Childcare Center, directly across from the StarkFresh Urban Teaching Farm.

It's Rehab Week 2014, and we honor the many gifted and caring rehabilitation therapists at Mercy! Today we're sharing the story of a therapist who's done an amazing job of caring for Mercy patients and families since 1976.

Meet Buffy Phillips, a physical therapist (PT) at Mercy Regional Rehabilitation Center whose ties with our hospital began in childhood. Her mother, Dorothy, was a Mercy Service League member, and Buffy says her mother spent countless hours volunteering with the women’s auxiliary.

After biking in France since September 11, Chris Christian returned to Italy on Wednesday, September 17, at kilometre 1400 in his cycling loop through Europe. Soon, after numerous mountain climbs and 17 days on most rugged tour he's ever attempted, Chris will reach the end of this extraordinary trek.

Tour de Mercy 2014 Mt Ventoux Summit

He did it! This past Sunday Chris Christian completed the most difficult stage of Tour de Mercy: the ascent of Mont Ventoux, a climb made famous in modern times by elite Tour de France cyclists. Also called the "Beast of Provence," Mt. Ventoux gradients average from 3.9 percent to 8.9 percent with frequent strong winds, called mistral, at the summit.
