Posted by Cindy Hickey on Fri, Jul 3, 2015 - 12:27 PM in Mercy Volunteers , Mercy Patient Story

Safe Sleep for Sweet Dreams: Mercy Helps Address Infant Mortality in Stark County

Posted by Cindy Hickey on Thu, Jun 25, 2015 - 10:13 AM in Community Outreach

Although our nation’s infant mortality rate has gone down in the last 10 years, Ohio’s has remained the same. Tragically, Stark County’s death rate for infants is not only higher than Ohio's, it also shows a disparity between white infants and African American infants. At Mercy, we are very concerned about this problem.

Dr. James King: Mission Is Very Obvious at Mercy

Posted by Cindy Hickey on Fri, Jun 12, 2015 - 12:25 PM in Mercy Ambassadors

When Mercy Development Foundation needed a chair for its 2nd Century Campaign - a fundraising initiative dedicated to renovation and expansion of our emergency department (ED) - James King, MD, was an ideal choice. Thanks in large part to his efforts, we exceeded our $6 million goal for the first capital campaign for a Stark County hospital since 1973.

Mercy's Mike Heckathorn and Jason Pirtz decided it was the perfect opportunity to try something new.

Sarah and Emily Kolesar have a passion for service, fostered in part by their Girl Scout troop's "Year of Service." So, when they learned Mercy Hospice needed someone to organize its small collection of music CDs, that was music to their ears - and inspiration for their minds. In Sarah's and Emily's capable young hands, the CD collection was destined to grow.
